Tube - YouTube client

01 Oct 2026

Another step on my “bespoke software” journey. There’s a lot of content that I enjoy on YouTube but I find it very difficult to have a healthy relationship with the normal YouTube app and website. It works for a while but eventually I drift away in weird directions because of the algorithm and start watching way too much YouTube shorts out of convenience.

Having a dedicated desktop app that only do the very basics of what I want is golden for me. This little app lets me subscribe to channels (via the official RSS feed) and stream it (using mpv) or save it for later (with yt-dlp).
